July and August IndySec

Just a quick note about the July and August IndySec:

July : Per suggestion, we are going to have a book exchange, swap, and or sale. Yeah, it sounds lame, but I know I have two full boxes of IT / IT Sec books that someone might like to read. I also have some "cert" books available as well.

August : Mr. Brian Carter is going to put on his Lockpicking demonstration again. If you make one event this year, please attend this event.

A request to the group --- could one of our IUPUI brethren reserve a room for the July and Aug meetings (maybe the cool room in the IT building on the main floor)? Sorry for the short notice. At the very least we need it for the August meeting.

If we can not get a room in time, then July will be held some place in broad ripple. Possibly the back deck of Connors Pub.

Cheers,
Steve

IndySec - Feedback requested

Hello all,

I just got back from having a great time at ShmooCon in DC. It was nice to see 5 confirmed people from IndySec (Landon made it on a podcast and Chad built part/all of the Schmoo network).

Mr. Krulewitch/Korty/Birk, might there be a chance for (better yet, would you be interested in) some type of sponsorship for the group for either this Saturday (23rd), next (1st) or any Saturday? I have already had a talk with Ryan Birk, he may have some special room reservation skills as the result of being a PU professor.

The IT building lounge works well for us as we could have a group lunch then go forward with a modified red/blue team exercise. I understand this is asking A LOT of the University and your personal time, so we understand if it can not work.

This Thursday is still on (Panera Bread, 6055 N Keystone Ave), normal hangout time, to discuss what is new.

Feedback:

1. From Krulewitch/Korty/Birk - possibility of a room for a Saturday meeting? y/n?
2. All - is anyone interested in helping build the environment\test\configure for the red / blue team exercise? What is your availability?

Also, has anyone used autopwn (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0MvcVZ7Fl8)?

Thanks,
Steve

Jan IndySec

IndySec fans,

No meeting this month! We had a couple people reply, however let's make sure we have a good showing for our pen test event.

See you after ShmooCon!

thanks,
Steve

Jan IndySec

IndySec fans,

We will not hold the pentest event this week! Yes I know, terrible. Landon and I have a meeting later this month (the 27th) to build out the rest of the environment. Let me know if you would like to help.

Question:
I know we have a lot of people out of town this week with vacations and work travel. With that in mind, would anyone still like to meet up?

As for our last IndySec, it was great. Special thanks to Brian Carter for a great demo on lockpicking. Ask anyone who went, it was a great, hands-on experience (the best IndySec yet, he even brought gifts). Thanks to Sean and Brian, we even made our own set of bump keys. Brian has agreed to re-present this summer for those who could not make the event.

Lastly, who all is going to ShmooCon?

thanks,
Steve
